The rule, exactly
For one gameweek you can make as many free transfers as you like, and when the gameweek ends your previous squad returns untouched. You get two a season on the same schedule as every chip: one expiring after the Gameweek 18 deadline, one unlocking at Gameweek 19 — and a Free Hit cannot be played in both Gameweek 18 and Gameweek 19 back to back.
Like the Wildcard it cannot be cancelled once played, cannot be used in Gameweek 1, and keeps your banked free transfers.
Free Hit or Wildcard?
One question decides it: do you want to keep the squad you are about to build? If yes, Wildcard. If you only need it for seven days, Free Hit.
The Free Hit's natural home is a week the calendar has broken — half your team blanking while one league plays a double. You field fifteen players who actually have fixtures, collect the points, and your real squad walks back in on Friday.
The trap
Prices move while you are on a Free Hit, and your returning squad comes back at current prices — the chip does not freeze the market. A Free Hit is one week of borrowed players, not a week outside the game.

What does Free Hit do?
Unlimited free transfers for one gameweek. When it ends, your previous squad returns exactly as it was. Two per season: one by the Gameweek 18 deadline, one from Gameweek 19.
Does my team come back after a Free Hit?
Yes — automatically and exactly as it was, the moment the gameweek ends. Nothing you did during the Free Hit week carries over.
Can I use Free Hit two weeks in a row?
You cannot play any two chips in the same gameweek, and specifically a Free Hit cannot be used in both Gameweek 18 and Gameweek 19 — the last week of the first set and the first week of the second.
When is a Free Hit most valuable?
In a week where the five leagues' calendars misalign badly — several of your players blanking while another league doubles. It lets you field a full team of players who actually have matches, once, without dismantling your real squad.
