Fantasy La Liga, in English

Spain has the most expensive footballer in the game and the cheapest useful defenders in Europe. All 20 clubs and 508 players are in the pool — and so is everyone from the other four of Europe's top leagues, in the same squad, under the same £100m.

Who actually scored

The La Liga players worth owning

La Liga is where the marquee money goes: the priciest player in the whole pool plays here, and the top ten average over £9m. What that hides is the bottom of the market. Mid-table Spanish sides keep clean sheets at a rate their prices do not reflect, which is why so many well-built squads carry two La Liga defenders nobody outside Spain could name. Ranked by points returned last season — no editorial thumb on the scale, and every number read straight out of the game's own pool.

Where the value is

The players below all cost £5.5m or less and all started regularly. A squad that fills its bench and its fourth and fifth defenders from this list is a squad that can afford two of the names in the table above — which is the whole trade every manager is making, every week.

How to use this league

Keep your favourites. Add the rest of Europe.

You do not have to choose. Take the La Liga players you would never sell, then fill the rest from Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga or Ligue 1. The squad rules are the only limit: 15 players, £100m, three per club.

A barbell, not a spread

La Liga rewards an extreme approach more than any other league in the pool. The top of the market here is the most expensive in the game and genuinely delivers; the bottom of the market is quietly the best value in Europe. The middle — the £7m to £9m Spanish midfielder — is the least productive bracket anywhere.

So take one of the two very expensive attackers if you can afford them, fill in with defenders at £5m and under, and skip the middle entirely.

Questions

Fantasy La Liga, answered

Are La Liga players good value?

At both ends, yes; in the middle, no. The most expensive attackers in the game play here and earn their price, and the cheap defenders are the best value in Europe. The £7m–£9m bracket is the weakest in any league.

Is there a fantasy La Liga game in English?

Yes. Fantasy Football Europe covers all 20 La Liga clubs and 508 La Liga players in English, with the same rules as Fantasy Premier League. You can build a squad entirely from La Liga, or mix La Liga players with players from the other four of Europe's top leagues in the same team.

Can I build a squad only from La Liga?

You can. Last season the best legal XI drawn only from La Liga cost £83.8m of the £100m budget and returned 1701 points. Most managers use a league they know as the core and fill the rest of the squad from wherever the value is.

How many La Liga players are there to choose from?

508 in total across 20 clubs, of whom 275 played enough football last season to be worth owning. Prices run from £4.0m to £12.1m.

Is it free?

Yes — free to play, no entry fee, and it runs in any browser with nothing to download.
